Marc Bolan: 20th Century Boy, 21st Century Icon

September 2007 promises several high profile Marc Bolan events and releases for the two major anniversaries; Marc died on 16 September 1977 and would have been 60 on 30 September 2007. The centrepiece of this September's celebrations to honour Marc Bolan's life and times will be a live concert at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on Saturday 15 September 2007. This is in aid of the PRS Members Fund and Nordoff Robbins, with AMP promoting. It’s called "Marc Bolan: The Celebration".

Around 20 musicians and vocalists - from the '60s to today - will perform classic Marc Bolan tunes on the night. T.Rextasy will be the house band, and there will be additional walk-on parts for several of Bolan's contemporaries.

Performers will include Tony Visconti, Rolan Bolan, Marc Almond, Dr Robert, John’s Children, Ruby Turner, Linda Lewis, Shakin’ Stevens, Clem Burke, Ray Dorset and more names to be announced soon.

Greatest Hits 2-CD Set
On 10 September 2007 Universal Music will be releasing a special two-CD TV-advertised package, Marc Bolan T.Rex Greatest Hits. CD1 will focus on the major hits from 1968 to 1977 while CD2 compiles rarities, early singles, treasured LP tracks and lesser-known B-sides. There will be a major UK and on-line PR campaign to support this release.

ITV documentary
ITV1 are making a new Marc Bolan television documentary for UK broadcast this September. There will additionally be a new BBC Radio 2 documentary and considerable activity in the press.
