UK
Film Screenings
Screenings of the special edit of T.Rex Live at Wembley began on 24 April
2005 in Nottingham, where around 130 fans were the first to experience the
new audio-visual treat of this remastered, re-edited film. It has continued
its UK tour to the delight of audiences across the nation; at each screening
lucky fans have been able to win Born to Boogie posters and goodie bags. Discussions
are also afoot for screenings in the US during June 2005.
Thanks to Richard Shakespeare for this photograph of some of the raffle winners.
Premiere Screening & Launch party
Tony Visconti and Rolan with Robert Plant
On 26 April 2005 Sanctuary Music Group hosted an invitation-only
evening in central London to launch the Born to Boogie DVD. A drinks reception
at the Curzon Cinema in Mayfair was followed by a screening of a special edit
of various elements of Born to Boogie, the second Wembley concert, and extracts
from the new documentary, all in DTS 96/24 high resolution audio playback.
Mark Allen, DVD Director, introduced the film, with Tony Visconti and Rolan
Bolan joining him on-stage to talk about their involvement in this unique
project. Special guests also included Gloria Jones, Bill Legend, Keith Morris,
Geoffrey Bayldon, Jeff Dexter, George Underwood, Boz Boorer, Harry and Sandy
Feld, and representatives from Shinko Music in Japan.

After the screening, Rolan and Tony signed special posters and goodie bags
for many of the Bolan fans in attendance.
At the after-show party at the Embassy Club on Old Burlington Street, revellers
were greeted with special Hot Love and Jeepster cocktails (click
here to see cocktail menu in pdf format), while a string quartet reprised
the orchestral section from the Garden Party sequence of Born to Boogie. Television
monitors played T.Rex Live at Wembley; the club was decorated with T.Rex balloons,
T.Rex coasters and posters; special promotional badges were available for
all. Bill, Tony and Rolan were presented with framed disks of the DVD in recognition
of their contributions to this project.

The promotional campaign for the release continued apace with Rolan and Tony
making flying visits to France and Germany to undertake interviews. They have
also been filmed for an appearance on the new series of Later With Jools Holland,
to be broadcast on BBC2 at 11.35pm on 20 May 2005. Rolan and Tony have a quick
chat with Jools about the project, a film excerpt is shown and Jools holds
up a copy of the DVD. Tony and Rolan also met up with Robert Plant who is
featured in the same show. For more details, go to www.bbc.co.uk/later
VH1 Classic and more
Hot Love, live at Wembley, has been released to VH1 Classic and will be enjoying
rotation over the coming weeks. Also look out for the Times magazine on Saturday
14 May, which is due to include a story about Keith Morris’s contact
sheets and the shooting of the iconic photograph of Marc on the tiger. The
June issue of Word magazine has a 10 page special on the story of Marc Bolan,
by Paul Du Noyer.
